Entering his 10th season at the helm of the Meridian Community College baseball program, Dillon Sudduth has continued the proud tradition of Eagle baseball. MCC has remained one of the MACCC’s premier programs, earning postseason berths and consistently finishing at the top of MACCC standings with an overall MACCC winning percentage of 74% as head coach. The 2021 season saw the Eagles finish as MACCC runner up and finishing ranked number 5 nationally in the country.
With 254 wins over the course of his 8 seasons, the Eagles have been a model of consistency averaging 32 wins a year during Sudduth’s tenure. During his 14 years coaching at MCC, the Eagles have one Region 23 championship; have finished Region 23 runner up three times, and added an MACCC Tournament championship.Named head coach of the Meridian CC baseball program at the age of 26, Sudduth began his career serving as MCC’s top assistant for five years before being promoted to the head job.The Eagles’ success under Sudduth has garnered national recognition for MCC, having been nationally ranked every season and reaching as high as #2 in the country while remaining nationally ranked for the entirety of the 2018 and 2019 seasons.Sudduth has overseen over to $1,000,000 dollars’ worth of additions and facility renovations throughout his time at MCC. The Smith-Williams Fieldhouse features a big league style player’s clubhouse, coaches offices, and a tradition room honoring all the former Eagles. Also a new hitting and pitching facility was constructed, and covered chair back grandstands have all been completed since being named head coach.In 14 total seasons at MCC, Sudduth has coached 5 All-Americans, 21 Academic All-Americans, had a player selected to represent the NJCAA USA National Team, coached the school’s all-time leader in single-season and career home runs, a Ferris Award winner, signed a first-round MLB Draft pick, and had numerous All-Conference honorees. 144 players have gone on to four-year schools and twenty-six players have been drafted by Major League Baseball during Sudduth’s time at MCC.His biggest player development success story is highlighted by current Toronto Blue Jay Corey Dickerson who was named a 2017 MLB All-Star and won a 2018 Gold Glove.
